Vegan Cheese Afternoon Tea at The Georgian House

What's vegan, cheesy and full to the brim with delicious food? Nope, I 'aint talking about little ol' me, I am talking about the newly launched Vegan Cheese Afternoon Tea I was invited to try out last week at The Georgian House, London.

With all of the hustle and bustle blogging brings (it isn't all launch parties and free food), it also has its delights too. The Georgian House is nestled between Victoria and Sloane Square, on the picturesque St. George's Drive. The house has recently become popular with fans of wizarding. I will reveal why later! Keep reading to find out more information about the afternoon tea, the yummy new vegan brunch option and an exclusive discount too - (booking needs to be done by 11th May 2019 to use the discount code but can be booked for any date in 2019).

The Afternoon Tea

Myself and a group of foodie bloggers were invited to try the new addition to the afternoon tea family at this beautiful hotel and we left feeling incredibly impressed and astounded at the level of effort Chef Monia had put in. Each element was well considered and beautifully handmade looking, and tasting equally as delicious. Monia, if you are reading this, I would like to extend my gratitude to you for creating such a wonderful vegan alternative and for the huge amount of effort and skill that has gone into it. You are truly talented and it was an honour to meet you!

Please note, the drinks flight is available as an additional supplement, and will incur and extra charge, but very much worth it as each drink is matched to the individual plates. You can add either the wine flight or bottomless prosecco during the booking stage. If you're booking for a special occasion, the drinks flight is the cherry on the cake. Non-alcoholic options are also available.

The Menu

Layer One - Vegan Cheese Sandwiches

By far my favourite layer of all, and what an absolute delight! Not only did it look impressive, everything tasted so good. In fact the 'Halloumi' and 'Parmesan' was almost too real, I wanted to check that it was definitely vegan. (It was). I am incredibly picky about vegan cheese, just as I was before I went vegan. If it doesn't taste good, I can't eat it! All of the vegan deli products used to create this -masterpiece- are sourced from Greenbay vegan supermarket in Fulham.

There was really nice tangy heat to the onion chutney which, if you don't like spicy food, probably won't be your thing, but personally I though it was delicious; although our love for the grilled halloumi was unanimous, so I genuinely wished there was more. If there were 3 layers of sandwiches filled with these toppings, I would have left equally as happy; just delicious!

Layer Two - The Scones

I grew up baking scones at home and understand that there is a fine art to getting them just right, I was very impressed with both, and the combination of cheese, apple and the spicy home made chutney was delicious. I was already feeling full and a little squiffy from the wine flight.

Each glass is paired with one of the layers. I had already enjoyed the glass of Boloney Estate Kew Red and was now onto a lovely, rich glass of refreshing 'Silly Moo' cider, very welcome as the scones were quite a mouthful and the chutney was very strong in flavour, so it was time to cleanse the palette for...dessert!

Layer Three - The Sweet

And what a dessert selection there was! My personal favourite were the Caremalised Banana Pancakes, although all of them were good. The others around the table had another favourite and the overall winner unanimously was the Rasperry Mascarpone Cheese Shot. It was like a cheese cake in a glass. We couldn't believe how closely it tasted like mascarpone and, once again had to ask the chef how the heck she managed to do it.

Let's just say that the whole experience was incredible from start to finish and we even got a tour of the Wizarding room, downstairs. I can't imagine a more perfect treat than an afternoon tea and a stay in this stunning hotel! You can even rent out a private cinema room for 2 people. If you're looking for a romantic idea for your partner, spouse or even for yourself and your friend, mother or sister, what a perfect setting The Georgian House would be. Possibly followed by a stroll through London and a show at one of the nearby theatres?

Take a look at a few more pics to show you inside the hotel itself!

The Takeaway

Each of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I can't thank the team at The Georgian House enough, and not to mention the chef, Monia, for the effort that has been put into this. If you think this menu is impressive, just wait until you see what is available in the vegan brunch!
